Easy Poncho in Eco Duo

We love it when our customers come in with inspirational items that they have made.  We see the yarn go out and voila! they transform it into something lovely and wearable.   At the shop we have all made Churchmouse Yarns Easy Folded Poncho – This is an easy poncho – not only easy to knit but easy to wear.  What is not to like about this pattern?  It can be adapted to almost any yarn and any size.  It is a little on the tedious side in terms of lots of stockinette stitch but that is just the ticket if your are knitting in public, traveling in a car, watching your favourite show or just really want to knit without deep concentration.
Caroline came in with her finished object….in truth this was her second poncho made with this pattern.  We all went banana’s for this one.  I not sure if you are familiar with Cascade Eco Duo and Cascade Eco Highland Duo but it is a shop favourite and customers love it also.  Blended with superfine alpaca and merino wool in a single ply of either solids or blended colours it is like whipped cream in your hands.  The Eco Duo works up in stripes and the Eco Highland Duo is solids.  They combine well together.  It is an aran weight yarn (18st per 10 cm or 4″) so it knits up quickly.  Oh, and did I mention that it is all natural, how we love that!   At the end we feature a wonderful cowl made with a combination of solids and the two tone duo with the free pattern to  download.

Our co-worker and amazing  knitter thought she would whip a poncho up for a store sample.  She is so experienced that she didn’t use a pattern – after all it is pretty straight forward.  I will post what she did as an addendum to the pattern (I do suggest you purchase the pattern as this will give you all the necessary instructions).  One of our lovely customers walked in so we asked her to be our model…we love to see pretty girls in our finished objects.  Thank you for being so kind.

Another of our store favourites is this big cozy cowl – Tilted Shadows

You can see what fun the Eco Duo is in terms of creating a jacquard like effect with knitting.  How cool is that!  This is a very simple cowl.  Knit straight and then joined, the stripes run diagonally by adding and subtracting a stitch at the beginning and end.
